Children's Aid Society, established in 1912, assists parents with the skills and resources they need to keep families together. The organization provides assistance to pregnant young girls and parenting young mothers in preparing for improved parenting of their children, and support and guidance in returning to school and gaining employment. Its Project Dads teaches responsibility sharing to at-risk adolescent males and teen fathers with an emphasis on decision-making skills, conflict resolution and anger management. The organization offers home study and post-placement supervision services to families who wish to adopt children independently. Children's Aid Society is a charter member of the United Way of Central Alabama, a founding member of the Child Welfare League of America, and is accredited by the Council on Accreditation. The organization is licensed as a child-placing agency by the Alabama Department of Human Resources. Children's Aid Society operates Monday through Friday, and is headquartered in Homewood, Ala.
