CAL-PEP provides comprehensive health education, HIV and AIDS treatment, case management, and peer treatment advocacy to people who are living with and affected by HIV. The center has conducted a number of community-based research projects and has been providing HIV education, care and treatment for more than 15 years. Its tranquilium center is a multipurpose day center founded by the AIDS Community Network in 1988. The services offered to HIV positive community include peer support groups and community care project, a program that provides access to primary care services. The center has conducted various research studies, such as the women and infants demonstration project, a multisite, behavioral intervention effort funded by the Centers for Disease Control. CAL-PEP is located in Oakland, Calif.
