Being in operation since 1992, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is a court-appointed special advocates of Santa Cruz County. Located in Watsonville, Calif., it screens, trains and professionally supervises caring adult volunteers, including more than 1,000. Court Appointed Special Advocates serves as advocates for more than 1,500 of Santa Cruz County s most vulnerable children, such as those who have been severely abused, neglected or abandoned. Additionally, CASA volunteers work with attorneys and social workers. CASA review records, research information and talk to anyone involved with the child, including parents, extended family members, doctors and teachers.
