Under the leadership of Police Chief Joseph Leonardi, the Redondo Beach Police Department controls and prevents a crime, improves the quality of life in the neighborhoods, and provides outstanding service based on the partnership with the community.
The Operations Bureau (Captain Jeff Hink) includes the Patrol Division and the Investigations Division. The Patrol Division is further divided into Patrol A and Patrol B. Patrol A is mainly responsible for day watch patrol, the Gang Enforcement Team, the Traffic Unit, and the Community Police Officer Unit. Patrol B is in charge of Watch 1 and Watch 3 field patrols, Reserve Police Officers, the Canine Team and the Pier Unit.
The Investigations Division overseas Adult Investigations, Juvenile Investigations, High Technology & Computer Crime, Special Investigations, Gang Intelligence Unit, and Crime Lab.
The Support Services Bureau (Captain Tom Krafick) is divided into the Special Projects, the Administrative Services and the Management Services. The major responsibilities of the Support Services Bureau include maintaining police records, conducting departmental training, providing jail services, court liaison, maintaining evidence and departmental property, providing dispatch for all police and fire emergency services, and traffic enforcement.
