Founded in 1976, Contra Costa Child Care Council is a private, nonprofit corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The council offers a variety of programs and services designed to support and empower parents and child care providers. The Child Care Council also educates decision makers and the general public regarding child care trends and issues. It creates nutrition and physical activity bulletin boards to help communicate with parents. Through Child Care Fund, the council provides child care subsidies for low-income and at-risk families. It partners with other child care and community groups to advocate for expanded and improved child care services. Contra Costa Child Care Council offers health and safety manuals, as well as provides adaptive toys and communication devices for children with learning disabilities. It also organizes parenting classes, workshops and training programs.
