Founded in 1995, LACER Afterschool Programs serves more than 1,500 students every year. It offers ARTSTARS, which is an after-school art and literacy educational program. LACER Afterschool Programs provides dance, music, theater and visual arts classes in coordination with core school subjects, such as English, math, science and social studies. It has won the Coming Up Taller Award from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The program is offered by LACER, which is a non-profit organization that serves middle school youths throughout Los Angeles. LACER provides homework assistance and writing and reading programs. The organization conducts classes in jewelry making, digital photography, architecture and magic. It also organizes workshops for parents. The organization offers soccer and basketball programs, as well as conducts field trips.
