History Phillips & Company is the successor to the individual Certified Public Accounting practice established March 1936 in Los Angeles by Joseph R. Zazueta. Mr. Zazueta practiced as a sole practitioner until 1954 at which time Roy H. Osterhout associated with him to form the partnership of Zazueta, Osterhout & Company in 1955. C. Anthony Phillips was admitted as a partner during August of 1973. In 1982 the firm relocated to Pasadena and the name was changed to Phillips & Company. Our firm is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as well as a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. Phillips & Company was featured in the July 1997 issue of THE PRACTICAL ACCOUNTANT in the article Becoming a Player in Like-Kind Exchanges. Since its founding in 1936 our firm has assisted thousands of individuals and businesses with their tax and accounting needs. Although our offices are located in Pasadena, California, our firm provides Certified Public Accounting services to Clients located throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties, as well as in some foreign countries. Our Clients include Internet, telecommunication, manufacturing, distribution, retail, construction, real estate, health care, legal, insurance and other service businesses, as well as individuals. Because of our firms expertise in financial business management, we are able to act as Controller or Chief Financial Officer for many small business Clients, who find it more cost effective than supporting those positions in house. Phillips & Company we help our Clients by providing timely financial information and ensure compliance with the various Federal, State and Local laws. Because we recognize the relationship between Clients and their accountants requires trust and confidence, we perform our services in complete confidentiality. We keep our Clients informed of the progress of their matters regularly, and if questions arise, we encourage our Clients to call us. Our fees are based on the time required by the individuals assigned to the project, plus direct expenses. Individual hourly rates vary according to the degree of responsibility involved and the skill required. We bill on a monthly basis for the services rendered during the month. With a firm belief in giving something back to the community, members of Phillips & Company staff participate in such service organizations and local programs as the Pasadena Tournament of Roses, the Rotary Club of Pasadena, the Pasadena Arts Council, the City of Pasadena Fire and Police Retirement Board and the Pasadena Chapter of the California Institute for Cancer Research.
