History
Established in 1936, Members 1st Credit Union originated as the CA State Employees Credit Union #13 serving CA state employees. FENC Federal Credit Union started as a cooperative in 1941, for federal workers hired during the construction of Shasta Dam. On October 1, 2000, the two credit unions merged to better serve their memberships through expanded products and services. They changed their name to Members 1st Credit Union and expanded their field of membership to include all residents of Shasta and Tehama County. California State University, Chico Employees Credit Union was established February 24, 1958 by four Chico State University professors to serve faculty and staff of Chico State and neighboring schools. The credit union later changed its name to STAR Community Credit Union in 2002. Their merger with Members 1st in 2016 provided expanded products and services for all members and an expanded field of membership including all residents of Shasta, Tehama, Butte, and Glenn County.
