Voltage Pictures
Founded in 2005, Voltage Pictures is an international sales, finance & production operation formed as a partnership between sales veteran/Academy-Award winner Nicolas Chartier and producer Dean Devlin. Devlin has written and produced such notable blockbusters as Independence Day, Godzilla, Stargate and The Patriot. In addition to being a partner in Voltage, Devlin heads Electric Entertainment, where he continues to produce independent, commercial films. Prior to forming Voltage, Chartier was VP of sales and acquisitions at Myriad Pictures. He has been involved in the sales of a diverse range of films, including Van Wilder, The Good Girl or the Olsen twins movies. As the president of Vortex Pictures, he sold My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Nicolas Cage's Sonny. As head of sales and acquisitions at Arclight Films, Chartier acquired Dean Devlin's The Librarian, 2006 Academy Award winner Crash and The Matador with Pierce Brosnan. During his time at Arclight, Chartier also sold Lord of War with Nicolas Cage and The Merchant of Venice with Al Pacino. In March 2010, Voltage's first in-house production The Hurt Locker, directed by Kathryn Bigelow and starring Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Brian Geraghty, Ralph Fiennes, Guy Pearce, David Morse and Evangeline Lilly, won six Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, best Editing, best Sound and best Sound Editing. It was nominated for nine Oscars. The Whistleblower, starring Rachel Weisz, Monica Bellucci, David Strathairn, Vanessa Redgrave, and executive produced by Voltage Pictures, will premiere in Toronto 2011. Voltage is in production in Vancouver on its first season of 13 one-hour series True Justice, produced by Phil Goldfine and starring Steven Seagal for the first time in an action TV series.
