The Santa Monica Observer is a free, weekly newspaper serving the city's residential and business community. The staff consists of the publisher, the editor, a city editor, staff writers, an art and design team, a food critic, a calendar editor, photographers and a newspaper distributor.
The publication provides reports on local news, community announcements, photo collages, arts reviews, advertising and extensive Doing Business As (DBA) listings. (California requires those filing DBA statements to print, in a local paper, a notice of the fictitious name. As a result, the fictitious name becomes part of the public record, which subsequently helps protect the public from fraud.)
Pursuant to Los Angeles Superior Court Case No. SS009444 (West District), itis a legally adjudicated newspaper of general circulation in the City of Santa Monica.
