Shir-Hashirim Montessori is located just steps from Hollywood Boulevard. The building itself is a bright colorful house with a yellow fence. Tall orange gladiolas, blooming plants, lime trees and a vegetable garden greet visitors at the entrance.

Shir-Hashirim Montessori offers many classes in its curriculum, such as yoga, art, drama, language, math, science, geography and more. The school also offers a summer program. For more information, visit the website.

Foundation For Early Childhood

The Foundation for Early Childhood Education operates locations all over Los Angeles County, nearly 30 in all. Its main offering is a free preschool program with part- or full-day classes. Home-based tutoring is also available for elementary school students. The foundation's funding is through grants from the federal government's Head Start program and the City of Los Angeles. This non-profit organization is "dedicated to the development of self-esteem, self-sufficiency and empowerment, we provide an environment which fosters respect and understanding of all individuals and their cultural backgrounds," according to the foundation's mission statement.
