The building that holds the Vella Cheese Company is a historical landmark in Sonoma. The building was originally built as a brewery in 1904, which was shut down by prohibition. After surviving many earthquakes and a fire, the building was reopened as the Vella Cheese Factory by Tom Vella and a few dairy-men.
Vella Cheese Company currently makes 19 different type of cheese and is most famous for their Dry Jack. Although they are no longer able to host tours of the facility, they do host tastings by appointment.
