Starting in August 2013, my mental health started to become worse and worse. I was diagnosed with mild depression. I went to therapy, but I wanted to do more for myself. One day, my friend and I were looking for something to do on a quiet evening. We discovered the Beginners Mind Zen Center, where I learned about zen, meditation, and mindfulness. I attended several of their day-long sitting retreats, even though as a deaf person, I didn't understand fully what was going on. I learned the power of mindfulness meditation, of sitting silently, greatly transforming my inner world. Through consistent practice, I experience less stress, less worrying, more gratitude for what I have, longer periods of focus, and great self-awareness. In 2017, I founded Well-Being with Matt to share the power of mindfulness, my experiences, and wisdom, so I can help people like yourself become the best version of yourself!
