Serving the greater Stamford community since 1981, Connecticut Ballet is the state's professional ballet company, and this building on Acosta Street is where the offices are housed and dancers practice. Founded by choreographers Brett Raphael and Luk de Layress, Connecticut Ballet's dancers are contracted by the season, performing classic and contemporary works like The Nutcracker and Coppelia. Its school (Connecticut Ballet Center) offers adult and children's classes for both professional and recreational purposes at all levels—with such class offerings as ballet, African percussion, tap, modern dance, hip hop, ethnic dance, capoeira, tai chi, taiko drumming, Zumba and Peruvian folklore.
