Situated on an island in the middle of East Main Street, Meriden's stately city hall is the hub of city services. It is also a center for Meriden history. Inside, well-known city residents like opera singer Rosa Ponselle are enshrined in a Hall of Fame and outside there is a plaque commemorating the time U.S. President Abraham Lincoln spoke on the steps of the original hall, which burned down in 1904.
