The American Council on Education, also known as ACE, is a higher education organization. Founded in 1918, it represents more than 1,600 presidents and chancellors of several U.S. accredited institutions, community colleges, and private and public universities. The council administers various adult learner, department leadership and fellows programs. The American Council on Education operates the Center for Advancement of Racial and Ethnic Equity. It offers a range of library and information services. The council also maintains the Office of Women in Higher Education.
