Founded in 1992, the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA), AFL-CIO, is the first and only national organization of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) workers, supported by the AFL-CIO and boasting over 22 chapters nationwide. APALA envisions a society where economic and racial justice prevails, human rights and worker dignity are upheld, and a sustainable planet offers a better life for AAPI, Black, brown, Indigenous communities, and all fighting oppression.
Committed to collective liberation, APALA works to empower AAPI workers and communities, most of whom are union members and allies, to build strength and advocate for their rights. Through initiatives like the Labor Toolkit on Anti-Asian Racism and AAPI Worker Stories, APALA strives to create a more just and equitable future for all, emphasizing solidarity and activism in pursuit of social change.
