Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington is the largest private social service agency in Washington, D.C., and surrounding Maryland counties. Each year, it serves more than 80,000 men, women and children through dozens of social service programs at more than 20 community sites. The agency s programs embrace all needy members of the community, regardless of race, religion or national origin. It is a branch location of Catholic Charities USA, a network of nonprofit agencies. Catholic Charities USA supports and enhances the work of its membership by providing networking opportunities, national advocacy through media efforts, program development, training, technical assistance and financial support. Catholic Charities agencies and institutions nationwide provide vital social services to people in need, regardless of their religious, social, or economic backgrounds. Founded in 1910 as the National Conference of Catholic Charities, Catholic Charities USA is headquartered in Alexandria, Va.
