Originally created in 1955 by Georgetown University, the International Law Institute (ILI) teaches lawyers how to navigate the legal problems of both developing countries and the international world. Although the ILI became an independent non-profit in the early 1980s, it has nonetheless kept its headquarters in the Georgetown area. By aiming to aid judicial and legal professionals worldwide, the ILI also has centers in Hong Kong, Cairo, Kampala and Abuja.
