The New America Foundation, founded in 1999, is a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy institute that invests in new thinkers and ideas to address the next generation of challenges facing the United States. The institute manages operations in California and Washington, D.C. It administers education policy, political reform, wireless future, and workforce and family programs. The New America Foundation also manages Bernard L. Schwartz Fellows Program, which supports journalists, academics and public policy analysts. The institute works on the issues of weapon proliferation and alternative national security frameworks. In addition, its Media Policy Initiative program focuses on policies to invigorate public media and increase independent public interest reporting.
