The Public Works Department, governed by the City of Daytona Beach in Florida, is responsible for maintaining and enhancing transportation infrastructure and community appearance. Its capabilities include street construction and repair, solid waste management, and parks maintenance and beautification. The department also offers engineering services, such as design, contract administration and inspection. Its traffic division provides and maintains a transportation system for motorists and pedestrians. The Public Works Department additionally maintains parking lots, basketball courts, traffic signals, pavement markings, curbs and gutters. Its grounds maintenance division manages athletic fields and municipal facilities, as well as designs, installs and maintains more than 130 irrigations systems.
