Established in 1991, Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association is a nonprofit corporation located in Maitland, Fla. It addresses specialty crop growers' scientific and knowledge needs in areas, including production, marketing, transportation and consumption of fruits and vegetables. The association funds a variety of welfare programs, such as methyl bromide alternatives research, disease management program, grower education, youth education, specialty crop promotion and consumer education programs. Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association also provides funds to government for research and assists specialty crop producers. It provides a variety of publications, such as Safe Workers for Specialty Produce in Florida, Biological Surface Treatment of Blueberries, and Harvest and Post-harvest Handling Conditions.
