Southeast High was again named one of America's top 500 public high schools by Newsweek magazine in 2010. It boasts top-rated student organizations such as its Key Club, FFA, Southeast Players (drama), its nationally ranked TV production broadcast news team and a world champion Formula One race car team that is part of Technology Students Association. Southeast operates an International Baccalaureate program; a Visual and Performing Arts Academy; an Agriscience, Business, Consumer Science Academy; and an Electronics Communications Center.
Notable Seminoles alumni include former Florida State and NFL standout Peter Warrick and Adrian McPherson, a former "Mr. Basketball" and "Mr. Football" for the state of Florida. Southeast football coach Paul Maechtle is a member of the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame and has won two state titles in his 25-plus years at the helm.
