The State Attorney's Office is governed by the City of Jacksonville in Florida. The office is responsible for the prosecution of crimes committed in Duval, Clay and Nassau counties in northeastern Florida. It encompasses the investigation of cases, including petit theft, domestic violence, public corruption and murders. The State Attorney's Office manages a county court division that conducts criminal intake for misdemeanor offenses. The office also operates a circuit court division that has jurisdiction over felony prosecutions. It manages special assault, homicide, public interest, and drug and vice units. In addition, the office maintains several diversionary programs designed to render justice without involvement in the traditional court system.
