History
SunServe was the first social service agency in South Florida serving economically disadvantaged and marginalized lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth, families, adults and seniors. In 2002, SunServe launched The Noble McArtor Senior Day Care Center and in 2003, SunServe formed the Counseling Program which has grown into a full range of out-patient mental health services. SunServe began hosting a youth group for LGBTQ youth in 2004 that has blossomed into the agency's largest department serving hundreds of local youth. In 2013, SunServe opened the HIV/AIDS Housing Case Management program and Project AIDS Care Medicaid Waiver program. In 2014, SunServe opened the Transgender Services Department, and in 2015, SunServe began the Senior Care Management program offering in-home case management to LGBTQ seniors. In 2017, SunServe launched a Women's Services Department to improve the well-being of all LBT women.
Specialties
Mental Health Services- We offer outpatient mental health services including individual, couples, family, group and substance treatment on a sliding payment scale, with no one turned away due to lack of funds. Senior Services - We reach hundreds of local LGBTQ seniors through programs such as The Noble McArtor Senior Day Center, SilverServe Luncheon, LGBTQ In-home Senior Care program and day trips Case Management- We provide case management through to HOPWA including help finding and securing housing, job skill training, job placement and budgeting. Youth Services - We offer a youth lounge, school and community based-youth groups, mental health counseling, life coaching, family groups, social events and leadership programs. Transgender Services- We offer assistance including accessing transportation, food, name/ gender marker changes, medical referrals, HIV testing and PrEP provider referrals and Trans-focused support groups. LGBTQ Proficiency Training- We offer a fee-for-service training to businesses and agencies to help them improve their cultural proficiency to more successfully interact with LGBTQ clients. Parent and Family Support groups -We offer monthly groups for families with transgender, gender variant, and gender non-conforming young children to connect and provide mutual support. Women's Services - We improves the well-being of LBT women through health and wellness services, connection to community resources, social engagement, and networking.
