Although the Boy Scouts were founded in 1908 by British Lord Robert Baden-Powell, it didn't take long for the movement to get to the United States. The Boy Scouts of America was formed just one year later, and the first Troop in Atlanta was organized in 1911. The Atlanta Area Council is the operations for all of the Scout's activities within a 13-county service area. The Boy Scouts of America has been instrumental in many young people's lives over the years and has proudly built a tradition that has helped shaped the nation.
