It began with one doctor and one patient at Doctors Hospital in 1978. When Dr. Joseph M. Still, Jr., couldn't find a burn center that would treat a severely burned man, he committed to making sure no patient would ever go without burn care in the southeast ever again. More than three decades later, the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital has grown to be the largest burn center in America with 70 total beds, including 36 in the Intensive Care Unit. Verified by the American Burn Association, the burn center admits more than 2,000 patients from across the nation annually - a third of those are children and boasts one of the highest survival rates in the country. Today, Joseph M. Still Burn Center's, Inc., operates inpatient and outpatient facilities in Augusta, GA, Atlanta, GA, and Jackson, MS.
