Operation P.E.A.C.E. (Positive Education Always Creates Elevation) was founded in 1995 in Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward neighborhood. The organization's main mission is to help children academically, provide a safe after-school environment and offer mentoring to kids with a cadre of volunteers from area universities and colleges including Georgia Tech, Spelman College, Georgia State University and Clark Atlanta University. Operation P.E.A.C.E. serves children ages five and older and provides transportation from school to its center and then home. The center's after school program operates out of classroom space at Our Lady of Lourdes, which also is in the Old Fourth Ward.
