Stephen Fisher, M.D., is a board-certified and sports medicine fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with the Northside Hospital Orthopedic Institute. His offices are in Cumming, Buford, and Braselton, Georgia. Alongside his team, Dr. Fisher provides friendly, cutting-edge care with an individualized approach to keep you in the game.Dr. Fisher is originally from Pittsburgh, where he played multiple competitive sports, including football, hockey, basketball, baseball, and motocross. He attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he received his B.S. in Exercise Science and was the captain of the championship Pitt Hockey Team. He received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine before completing his orthopedic surgery residency at Wayne State University - Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. During his final year there, he was appointed Chief Resident.Dr. Fisher then completed his fellowship training in sports medicine at The Lake Tahoe Orthopedic Institute in Nevada and California. After fellowship, he was in private practice in Michigan for seven years prior to moving to the warmer weather here in Georgia. He has been practicing in the North Georgia / Atlanta area since 2009, raising his family here, and he now considers it their hometown.Dr. Fisher is board-certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and is sub-specialty board-certified in Sports Medicine, scoring in the upper 90th percentiles for both his certification and re-certification exams. He has also been named one of Atlantas Top Docs every year since 2020 by Castle-Connolly, an independent healthcare research company, and featured in Atlanta Magazine. Dr. Fisher is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine, and the Georgia State Medical Society, as well as a consultant for orthopaedic device companies.Dr. Fisher specializes in treating conditions of the shoulder, knee, elbow, ankle, hand, and wrist in patients of all ages, including school-age children to the weekend warriors to the college, professional, and senior athletes. He serves as the team physician for multiple high schools and youth and club sports programs. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Fisher takes a comprehensive approach to treatment, including the most up-to-date and cutting-edge non-operative and operative techniques.As a multiple sport athlete himself, he has a passion for treating athletes and patients who wish to remain active.
