Congregation Bene Shalom is special. Since 1972, the temple has been dedicated to serving the needs of the largely unrecognized hearing-challenged faction of the Jewish community with the Hebrew Seminary for the Deaf. Bene Shalom is a Reform Jewish congregation committed to providing the full richness of Judaism to all people—deaf and hearing Jews of all denominations, and even non-Jews—in a warm and fully equal community and house of worship. From its humble beginnings in a warehouse to its large presence today, the welcoming, accepting arms of Bene Shalom have only grown bigger and stronger.
