The Illinois Department of Corrections, also known as IDOC, operates various federal and county jail facilities. Established in 1970, the Illinois Department of Corrections specializes in the administration of prisons and juvenile centers. In addition, it maintains a training academy and organizes work and boot camps. The department provides the Operation Spotlight Parole Reform Program. The Illinois Department of Corrections operations center operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It also has a women and family services division that focuses on the development and implementation of policies, programs and services.
