History
Lawrence Calvin D'Antignac (Dan) began the journey that became The Woodshop as a young boy in a Chicago Park District wood working shop. Intrigued by what he saw and amazed by what he could create, Dan's furture was hidden in the textures of the wood. The 1953 Phillips High Scholl graduate joined the Marine Corps serving his country proudly during the Korean conflict. After his honorable discharge Dan worked a variety of jobs but his passion for working with wood led him to creating specialty furnishings for an eager and diverse clientele. The framing evolved after his sons took first place at the National Boys Scout Jamboree. Their sports memorabila display presented a new business; custom picture framing. Dan's decision to sell art opened up another facet of his business. Through Dan's passion and perseverance,The Woodshop has become a place that allows us to cherish, conserve and collect our art.
