In business for more than 116 years, Allison Payment Systems is a privately held printing company based in Indianapolis. Founded by Noah Allison, the company is the oldest business in the greater Indianapolis area based on the Allison name. The Allison family introduced coupons as a means of conducting payment transactions and is the oldest payment coupon provider in the United States. Beginning business operations as a coupon book production company in 1888, the Allison Coupon Company was eventually sold by the Allison family to Chicago-based Cummins Perforator in 1962. It became a division of Cummins-Allison in 1973. Lead by Joseph Thomas, the business operation was acquired by the Payment Systems management team from Cummins Allison Corp. Allison Payment Systems was reorganized as a limited liability company in the state of Indiana in May 1995.
