History
At one time Bendix Woods County Park was part of the Studebaker Proving Grounds. A living pine tree sign, one-half-mile long spells STUDEBAKER within the park. The brick Nature Center/park offices was once the Studebaker Clubhouse. Both the tree sign and the Nature Center are on the National Registry of Historic Places.
Specialties
Featuring 3-miles of wooded hiking trails, and a new mountain bike trail. 28-acre state nature preserve within the park is a showcase of native woodland wildflowers in spring. Sugar Camp Days - held the 3rd weekend in March - highlights maple syrup (made on the premises) with a pancake breakfast, old time artisan demonstrations and more. Fall hayrides, playground and picnic shelters are popular attractions.
