Kathleen loves the fact she can learn literally learn something new with every job she takes on! From the never-ending transcript of legal argument about who did what, where and how, to a simple one-on-one interview. The topics constantly change. Kathleen Behrens is a freelance verbatim transcriber, who began her journey into word-for-word transcription in 1996. Her passion for learning, be it an industry or new words, as well as a strong interest in the legal realm led her to completing a degree in Court Reporting and finishing up her Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice at UMKC. Her experience in working for the Jackson County Missouri and Johnson County Kansas district courts, as well as a small workers compensation firm is invaluable. Prior to her word-for-word career, she has extensive knowledge in the medical field working as a medical assistant for over 20 years in a pathology lab. Her Court Reporting degree landed her in various courtrooms throughout the Kansas City and Overland Park area working for various judges and attorneys. She now operates her own transcribing business covering a multitude of areas in local government, law enforcement interviews, law office and insurance recorded statements. There is no job too big or too small! Kathleen is a member of the National Association for Court Reporters, Missouri Court Reporters Association, Kansas Court Reporters Association and American Association for Electronic Reporters and Transcribers, as well as a Notary for the State of Kansas.
