Lexington Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, which is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization that builds and renovates affordable housing. Founded in 1976, Habitat for Humanity International has built more than 200,000 houses throughout the world, providing over 1,000,000 people in nearly 3,000 communities with safe, decent and affordable shelter. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, it builds and rehabilitates decent houses with the help of homeowner families. It has more than 2,000 active affiliates in over 100 countries. Based in Lexington, Ky., Lexington Habitat for Humanity s is sponsored by Immanuel Baptist Church, Catholic Parishes of Lexington, Trane, Chase Bank and Tenmast Software.
