The Fire Marshal's Office, also known as FMO, operates under the government of the state of Maine. It works to protect lives and property from the devastation of fire, explosions and other life safety hazards. The office is responsible for inspecting public buildings, reviewing the construction blueprints of public facilities, and regulating explosives, fireworks and various flammable liquids. The Fire Marshal's Office also inspects mechanical rides, as well as licenses traveling amusement shows and circuses. Additionally, it offers a range of online services related to approval for various construction, mechanical ride, explosive, firework and above-ground storage tank projects. The Fire Marshal's Office maintains a presence in Augusta, Maine.
