Located in suite 405 of the building on 60 West Street, the Chesapeake Bay Trust was chartered more than 20 years ago by the Maryland General Assembly. The trust is a non-profit organization that focuses on protecting and restoring the Chesapeake Bay. The organization does this through grant-making and by engaging and educating the public about local environmental issues. It is made up of 19 board members, 14 of whom are appointed by the Governor.
One of many ways the organization raises funds to support its efforts is through its Bay Plate program, which allows Marylanders to purchase a special Chesapeake Bay license plate for their vehicles.
