The Mishkan Torah Synagogue was founded in 1939; its current home was constructed in 1950 by members and non-members in Greenbelt. Despite its location, Reconstructionist and Conservative followers from as far as Columbia flock to the synagogue for its plethora of events and intensive Hebrew school.
The Karp Family Hebrew School is attached to the Synagogue itself and offers children a balance of modern Hebrew and t'filah studies. Teachers also expose kids to Jewish history, art and dance with an emphasis on Jewish values.
Not only does Mishkan Torah host several annual events and services for the High Holidays, but it also engages in special community events throughout the year like book fairs and the Purim Festival. The Synagogue is also home to several clubs for all ages, like the Mishkan Torah choir and the Yiddish Club.
