The Boston Housing Authority is one of the largest landlords in Boston. It is a public housing authority that houses more than 10 percent of the city's residents through its programs. It owns and manages more than 60 public housing developments, including elderly and disabled and family developments. In addition, the Boston Housing Authority provides affordable housing through the administration of several rental assistance programs. These programs include the Section 8 Voucher Program, as well as the state-funded Massachusetts Rental Voucher Program, which is overseen by the Department of Housing and Community Development. It has various divisions, such as administration, capital construction, civil rights, communications, human resources, operations, planning and real estate development, procurement, public safety and risk management. The Boston Housing Authority maintains an office in Charlestown, Mass.
