Twenty years ago, Carol M. Wishoski, current director of the Rockland Montessori School, purchased the former Rockland Nursery School. This educational establishment was founded 65 years ago. The Rockland Montessori Schools mission statement is "Children are our most precious gifts in life. Our objective at the Rockland is to make a child's first schooling experience a positive one by providing a nurturing and supportive environment in which a child can grow and develop socially, academically, cognitively, and emotionally."
Through strong support, love, attention and understanding the young children who attend the Rockland develop a foundation that will be with them for the rest of their lives. These children are taught through observation, challenging curriculums, fun learning experiences, socialization and more. The faculty at Rockland believe that there is a relationship between the "physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual aspects of an individual's makeup." With proper nuturing the student will become self- and environmentally-aware.
The Rockland Montessori School offers both pre-school and kindergarten programming. The school is housed in a seven room colonial and includes a kitchen and fenced in play-yard.
