BJ's Wholesale Club is a wholesale club chain operating in the eastern United States from Maine to Miami and in the state of Ohio. It is a wholesale club with no membership qualifications or restrictions that welcomes all consumers and businesses. BJ's introduced the warehouse club concept to New England in 1984. It also founded ProFoods Restaurant Supply to serve the restaurant and food industry. In 2005, the company operated 162 clubs in 16 states, including two ProFoods Restaurant Supply clubs in the metro New York area. BJ's provides its members with high-quality, brand-name merchandise at prices that are lower than the prices found at supermarkets, supercenters, department stores, drug stores and specialty retail stores. The company s stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol BJ. The company had more than $7 billion in revenue in 2004 and was ranked 284 on Fortune magazine s list of America s 500 largest public corporations.
