Established in 1893, the Wellesley Police Department is a law enforcement agency that promotes public safety, identifies and solves criminal cases and safeguards citizens rights. It operates the Norfolk County Police Anti-Crime Task Force (NORPAC), which is a multiagency unit comprised of police detectives who seize cocaine, heroin, marijuana and prescription drugs being sold unlawfully. The Wellesley Police Department has a bureau of criminal investigation that investigates major crimes and provides support services. In addition, the division assists local, state and federal agencies with a variety of investigative matters. Located in Wellesley, Mass., the department has a records division that manages and processes department reports, requests, firearm permits, registrations and documents.
