HistoryIt all started with two brothers from Detroit who were longing for a taste of home. Steve & Spencer Soka were working in Okemos, MI and grew tired of going all the way back home for an authentic, deli style, hot corned beef sandwich. One day Spencer happened to notice a closed down ice cream shop and an idea was formed. He instantly knew he wanted to turn into a real New York Style deli, and he knew just who he wanted to join him on this venture. Spencer approached his older brother, Steve, about his plan. With the idea firmly planted, Spencer was ready to go, but Steve wanted to think it over. Spencer's persistence paid off and after talking more, they came to an agreement. Wanting to keep it classic, but at the same time put their own spin on some of their own favorite sandwiches, the brother's concept of Stateside Deli came to be in 2008.
