Sterling Bank & Trust was chartered in 1984 as Sterling Savings and Loan Association. The bank focused on residential mortgage lending and servicing. In 1990, expansion led to the development of the commercial real estate lending division. In 1993, the bank became Sterling Bank & Trust with the addition of the trust division. The bank provides services that include checking and savings accounts, certificates of deposit, ATM cards, business checking accounts and money market deposite accounts. The firm s headquarters is located in Southfield, Mich., where it employs nearly 120 people. Sterling Bank & Trust also has five other branches in San Francisco in addition to one in Burlingame, Calif., as well.
