Founded in 1951, the Fridley Fire Department offers fire suppression, emergency medical and hazardous material response services. It maintains a staff of more than 25 firefighters who provide fire extinguisher refill, home fire safety inspection and child car seat installation services. The department features engines, cabs, boats, and aerial, medium-duty and rescue trucks. The Fridley Fire Department receives over 2,500 fire and emergency calls annually. It operates rental housing division that offers repair and maintenance services for water leakage, unsafe structure and heating system failure. The department is a member of the North Suburban Regional Mutual Aid Association and the Anoka County Fire Protection Council. It conducts several community support programs, including safety camps, fire station tours and blood pressure testing. The department is operated by the city of Fridley, Minn., which additionally operates licensing, recreation and police departments.
