History
First established as a source for art supplies for students and aspiring artists in Hanover, New Hampshire, Duke's expanded into picture framing when original owner and longtime Hanover resident Richard Duclos became interested in the process, and wanted to piggyback on his wife's art supply success. Over the next 15 years Duke's established a solid reputation in the Upper Valley for consistent and reliable service. When current owner, Daniel Kelly, purchased the business in 1986, he brought with him new techniques and expertise garnered from years of custom framing in South Florida, including experience in custom frame design and finishing, hand gold leafing, and texturing learned from Cuban and European professional craftsmen. The new owner then set about to raise the level of Duke's reputation for service, reliability, and craftsmanship in custom picture framing. For the subsequent 33 plus years, Duke's goal has been to maintain those levels for all its customers.
