History
Beatriz & Olivia both immigrated from Arcos de Valdevez, Portugal, a municipality that runs along the northern frontier of Portugal, hence the name of the bakery, Arcos. Olivia's grandma baked and sold desserts at festivals and open markets. Beatriz's father was the village baker and at the age of eight she would deliver the bread to people's homes. Both Beatriz and Olivia had dreams of following in their ancestors' footsteps and open their own food business, so in 1998 two families merged to open a Portuguese style cafe and bakery! A family run business, Arcos Pastry has become a staple in the town of Kearny. With outdoor seating, and its unique location across the picturesque town hall and park, Arcos Pastry is a great place to sit back, relax and enjoy a delicious coffee and Portuguese dessert... the European way.

All of our baking is done on premises and you may even happen to arrive while 'padas' (portugese rolls) or 'natas' (custard cups) are coming right out of the oven (tip: always ask if something has just come out of the oven). Similar to the European style cafe, we also serve breakfast, lunch & dinner. Some of our popular treats include our 'tosta mistas' (panini style ham and cheese), homemade vegetable or chicken soup, 'bitoque' (portuguese style steak), 'bacalhau com natas' (creamed codfish & potatoes), & our delicious, buttery toast,
