Essex County College, located in Newark, N.J., was established in 1966 as a public, two-year community college. It is licensed by the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education to operate and award associate degrees and certificates. The university has an enrollment of more than 25,000, including students from over 40 countries. Its curriculum features 70 majors and more than 550 courses in various degree and noncredit programs. The 22-acre main campus offers various facilities, including a physical education complex, child development center, center for technology and laboratories, high-tech classrooms, theater for performing arts, and a library equipped with online public access catalog stations and a computer lab. Essex County College is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
