Located on the first floor of the Municipal Center, the New Providence Police Department has set out to protect and serve citizens in a professional manner and without bias. It aims to instill a sense of security among commuity members. The department's officers also guard against terrorism as well as performing everyday duties. Founded in 1932, the department has had six police chiefs. Chief Anthony D. Buccelli Jr. leads a department of nearly 30 officers. The department participates in the DARE program with local schools and in the Senior Citizen Liasion Program. Information on those programs and local regulations, advisories, bulletins and department openings can be found on the department's website.
